The Knolls Care Centre, originally built as a residential home by the Bassett family, owners of Barclays Bank, was converted to a Care Home with Nursing at the turn of the century. A key feature of the site is the fact that it has a large number of protected tree species from different parts of the world.
The Home is located a mile from the market town of Leighton Buzzard, and is adjacent to the Leighton Buzzard Golf Course.
The Knolls is rated “Good” by the CQC and places significant emphasis, not only on the comfortable accommodation and ancillary communal areas, but equally importantly, on the safety and holistic wellbeing of its residents.
In the garden, and amongst the trees, there are paved pathways interspersed with covered seating areas which provide areas for fetes and other outdoor functions to take place.
The Home is currently in the process of a rolling programme of upgrade and renovation which includes converting a number of bathrooms into modern wet-rooms, renewing flooring in various areas of the home and a total renovation of the outside elevations of the building including the windows.
The home has a well-deserved reputation for its activities programmes, arranged by three dedicated activities co-ordinators who organise both internal and external activities in which residents are encouraged to participate.
It is important to note that the actual level and type of care that each and every resident receives in our care home is based on an initial person centered pre-admission assessment. Whenever possible, both the resident and next-of-kin are invited to participate in the review.
The Centre is managed by a Registered Home Manager approved by the CQC.
