Services at The Knolls Care Centre

Weekly GP round

Residents moving into the Care Home have the choice of signing up to the Home’s regular GP Practice or, if preferred, they can opt to continue with the practice with whom they are familiar.

There are issues to consider and these include the distance the practice is from the home and the GP’s willingness to travel.

24 Hours a day on site nurses

The home has Registered General Nurses (RGN’s/ RMN’s) who are rostered on shift 24 hours a day. This is to ensure that all the nursing needs of our nursing and palliative patients are met.

Residential clients are supported by the local District Nursing Team with whom we have a good working relationship.

We also have access to a Complex Matron who supports the home should any of our staff or next of kin require any additional guidance.

Dentist and Chiropodist

Appointments with the local dentist and/or chiropodist can be arranged or you can continue to use the services of your existing practitioner should you have one.

Opticians

Arrangements can be made to enable you to visit an optician of choice or to make an appointment to see the opticians who visit the home regularly.

Hairdressing

There is a dedicated Hairdressing Salon in the home and a Hairdresser visits on a regular basis.

Family video calls

Family video calls – we do offer Skype – supported by the activities team.

External Trips

The home has access to wheel-chair accessible vehicles which are used for external trips for those able to participate. These trips are arranged and managed by the Activities Co-ordinators who accompany the residents on the excursions.
